Despite Left, govt may hike telecom FDI cap
New Delhi, September 9
The Prime Minister and Chairman of the Planning Commission, Dr Manmohan Singh, with Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia at the first meeting of the full Planning Commission, at Yojana Bhavan, in New Delhi on Thursday.
With some dissenting noises from the Left parties, the UPA government is expected to go ahead with the hike in the FDI in telecom sector without much hassle.

SC recalls order in ITC case

The Indian Tobacco Company’s joy over getting a major relief in Rs 803 crore excise duty case from the Supreme Court was shortlived today as the court recalled its order after it learnt that a counsel of the company had “smuggled” the judgment out of the court room even before one judge had signed it.
