Admn demolishes farmhouses in Kishangarh area

In a major action against some powerful people, a team of the Chandigarh Administration demolished farmhouses in the Kishangarh area last afternoon and took into possession about 125 acres of land which had been acquired for an upcoming IT park. MC nod to auction of 5.3 acres of land in Mani Majra
Chandigarh, May 25
The Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh today gave its approval for the “disposal” of 5.349 acres in Mani Majra by way of open auction “for construction of multi-storeyed housing flats”.

Demarcation of land on Ambala highway carried out

Following the Punjab and Haryana High Court directions on removal of encroachments from the “killer” Chandigarh-Ambala highway, teams of the Punjab Revenue Department and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) jointly conducted demarcation of the government land allegedly encroached upon by shopkeepers here today.

Around 150 persons gathered outside Sector 61 police post for three hours tonight demanding the arrest of a few persons of Sector 52, who had allegedly thrashed a man and a woman with sticks and hockey sticks.

Mystery shrouds the death of Baljit Singh, a transporter and a resident of Bakshiwala village, near here. According to sources, the body of Baljit Singh was found hanging from a tree in the forest area in the vicinity of Pinjore today. Baljit had left his house around 7 a.m.

Administration hikes tuition fee

In a move, that will have an impact on thousands of college-going students, the Chandigarh Administration has decided to hike the tuition fee by Rs 50 for all undergraduate and post graduate courses being offered in the colleges of the city.
