4 ISI agents to die for RDX smuggling

Ahmedabad, March 25
Four Pakistan nationals working for the ISI were today sentenced to death by a local court in Bhuj for smuggling arms and explosives, including 24 kg RDX, from across the border in 1999.

While awarding the sentence in a jam-packed courtroom, fast-track court Judge V.M. Chaudhary acquitted 23 others, who are locals of the area but were co-accused.

The four had smuggled 24 kg RDX and several arms with the alleged connivance of some locals but were apprehended by the police.

Those who have been awarded to “hang-till-death” sentence are Sajjau Ibrahim, Nawaz Alijat, Haji Mohammedjat and Osman Alijat.

In his 340-page judgement, the judge also included arguments of public prosecutor Ratnakar Dholakia who used instances of court proceedings in the Parliament attack case.

Two of the acquitted locals had escaped from the jail in 2000 after the earthquake and are still at large. — PTI
