Punishment sought for guilty in paper-leak case
Ludhiana, March 21
The Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) has lambasted the state government  and senior functionaries of the Punjab School Education Board for leak of question papers for Classes X and XII and has called for fixing the responsibility.

Uttaranchalis’ role in development lauded

The Uttranchal Kumaon Vikas Parishad celebrated its annual cultural function at the Arya College for Boys here today. Mr Kishore Upadhaya, Industries Minister, Uttranchal, was specially invited on the occasion. Addressing the Uttaranchalis living in Ludhiana, he congratulated them for perpetuating their customs and culture by organising such functions. USA flayed for attacking Iraq
Ludhiana, March 21
A meeting of the Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD) was held under the chairmanship of its president, Dr L.S. Chawla. Addressing the gathering, Dr L.S. Chawla said the USA attacked Iraq, even though Chief UN Inspector Hans Blix had categorically denied that Iraq possessed any weapons of mass destruction. The USA attacked despite the worldwide protests against such an aggression.

Baba Balak Nath devotees take out shobha yatra

Devotees of Baba Balak Nath today took out a shobha yatra from Baba Balaknath and Durga Mata Mandir, Ghumar Mandi, here this morning. Thousands of devotees carrying flags and singing Baba's praises started the sobha yatra from the temple and walked through Upkar Nagar, Rose garden, Clock Tower, Chaura Bazar, Bajwa Nagar and Civil Lines.

Seminar on event management

A seminar on event management , an upcoming industry, was organised at GGNIMT here yesterday. It was arranged by professionals from the Catalyst - a five -year- old industry in conceptualising event management. The main objective of this seminar was to make students aware of various aspects of this industry.

The Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT), Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, Ludhiana, organised a national seminar on “Career options in management and IT” here today. Experts from various universities, institutes and industry participated in the seminar.

Malwa college students get degrees
Ludhiana, March 21
The Malwa Central College of Education for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised its 47th annual convocation yesterday. About 250 BEd and 25 MEd students were awarded degrees at the function. Dr S.S. Johl, Deputy Chairman, State Planning Commission, Government of Punjab, presided over the function.

Colleges hold joint  convocation
Ludhiana, March 21
The GHGH College of Education for Women and the Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd, organised a joint convocation. Dr Nisha Sarad, DPI, Colleges, was the chief guest. Dr Rajwant Kaur welcomed the chief guest. Dr Sarad congratulated the management, Principal and students for the role played by these rural institutions. She exalted the students to achieve great academic and moral heights by hard work, perseverance and sincerity.

Dr Bhagat Singh, former Vice-Chancellor, Panjabi University, Patiala, and DPI (Colleges), has blamed education system for instability in all the sections of society. While talking to this correspondent after addressing a gathering on the inauguration of Sarvodya International School at Khanpur village, he said only honesty in education could save the nation.
