Terming the “feel good” factor of the BJP a
myth, about 5000 industrial unit owners of the city today announced that they
would oppose the NDA candidates all over the state in the coming general
election for the failure of the NDA government to redress the issue pertaining
to the unprecedented hike in steel and pig iron price ranging between 80 and 150
per cent in the past six months.

Silt delta reduces Bhakra Dam’s lifespan

The water storage capacity of the Bhakra Dam will
be nearly finished in the next 30 to 40 years, about 20 years before its
expected lifespan of 100 years. The dam, which was inaugurated in 1964, will
once again become part of the river basin with the river water just flowing
through it.
