HC: Teachers won’t do poll duty on ‘working days’

Giving importance to the studies of students, the Delhi High Court has directed the Delhi Government and the municipal school authorities not to depute schoolteachers for election duty, pulse polio and census work on ‘working days’.

A murder case has been finally registered against the Dholana police in connection with the custodial death of Bir Singh, a BSP worker. A large number of villagers had jammed traffic on the roads when some senior police officers were reportedly coming to the police station on Tuesday.

The West district police today claimed to have arrested two persons, including a woman, who had sacrificed a two-and-half-year-old child to change the wayward habits of her drunkard husband on the advice of a tantrik. The accused were identified as Santosh, resident of Mangesh Pur and her cousin Pawan, resident of Baprola.

A story of poor drainage & nightmarish journey on roads

It is the same old story. In what has become a monotonous routine, the pathetic condition of Sonepat’s roads continues to cause nightmares to the people of the city. According to a report, the main reason for the poor condition of the roads is drainage system.

Thursday was a unique and heartwarming day at Greenfields SOS Children’s Village, Faridabad, with over 200 children from different schools of Delhi and the National Capital Region showing that they are concerned about the welfare and future of the less privileged children of society. Participating in a unique Child Caring for Child event, these children spent the day interacting with the children of the village and getting hands-on experience of community work. The programme included a painting and essay writing competition.

HelpAge India, an NGO, today celebrated its 25 years of working for the cause and care of disadvantaged old persons. In the period of 25 years, the population of India has virtually doubled from 39 million to 77 million, making ageing one of the most critical issues the country and the world at large are facing.
