Dhumal’s hand alleged in job scam Shimla, October 26 Addressing a joint press conference here, they said the outgoing government had destroyed all records pertaining to recruitments made through the State Subordinate Services Selection Board. But the deleted data had been retrieved from the computers of the former Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) by experts of Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad. It had exposed the nexus between board and the CMO. He said the incriminating data retrieved from computers indicated that the entire recruitment process had been hijacked by the CMO. She alleged that meritorious candidates who topped the list of selected candidates had been rejected by the CMO. She said if Mr Dhumal did not quit, he would be dumped by his party whose credibility had been eroded. Mrs Asha Kumari, who is also member of the Cabinet subcommittee for review of MoUs and agreements concerning hydel power projects said norms had been flouted while awarding the projects. The condition of minimum points awarded on the basis of the technical and financial capability of companies was waived to allot projects to a favoured company. Meanwhile, Mr Baldev Sharma, spokesperson of the state BJP, today came out in the defence of Mr Dhumal. He said there was nothing incriminating in the data retrieved from the computers of the former Chief Minister’s Office. Addressing a press conference here today, he said a chief minister received hundreds of applications everyday and their record is maintained as a routine matter. Such data did not indicate any personal involvement of Mr Dhumal. He said the data had been retrieved almost most after eight months of the new government taking over and there was a possibility of the hard disks being doctored. He said the government was not pursuing the case in right earnest and vital evidence involving Congress leaders made available by Mr S.M. Katwal, former chairman of the board, had been withheld. He said Congress ministers, by giving statements contrary to the facts to protect Mr Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister, in the land grab case, were violating the oath of office. Mr Sharma alleged that the previous Congress government gave jobs on recommendatory chits as was evident from the reports of two separate inquiries conducted by the Dhumal government. |
No irregularity in JBT test, says board chief Chamba Hatli, October 26 Mr Rahi said during the BJP regime on October 6, 2002, the JBT entrance test was conducted in which 1,11,797 candidates appeared but the result was not declared even after six months and the BJP was removed from power in March, 2003. He said since the JBT test was objective in nature there was no scope for tampering. The evaluation was done on the OMR sheets with computers. Also, to avoid any underhand
dealings, the evaluation and tabulation of the result was done under the supervision of senior officials on the board premises unlike the earlier one.
