Ambala, July 19
Some municipal councillors are up in arms over the delay in holding of House meetings of the MC, Ambala Sadar.

The councillors are demanding that a House meeting should be called immediately. About three months have elapsed since the last MC House meeting was held.

The Leader of the Congress in the MC, Mr Hira Lal Yadav, said an action committee had been formed to ensure that House meetings were held regularly. “Our efforts are yet to bear fruit as a House meeting has not been held since Mr Suresh Garg became the officiating president,” he said.

He said the officials concerned had not been able to give any satisfactory reply regarding when the meeting was going to be held. “We have submitted a written application in this regard. Despite the municipal councillors seeking that the House meeting should be held, there is an inexplicable delay in holding it,” he said.

An action committee member said the House meeting was supposed to be held every month. “When a written application has been submitted, the House meeting should have been called within 10 days,” he said.

Members of the action committee have decided that if by Tuesday the agenda of the meeting is not released, they will start an agitation.

However, officiating President Suresh Garg said the meetings of the sub-committee had to be completed before the House meeting was held. “The finance sub-committee meeting has already been held,” he said.

He stated that the works sub- committee meeting was scheduled to take place last week but due to another meeting by the Deputy Commissioner, it had to be postponed. The sub-committee members are going to be issued a fresh agenda for the meeting, which is likely to take place on Tuesday.

“The meeting of the sanitation sub-committee is going to be held soon thereafter. Immediately after the meetings of the sub-committees are completed, the House meeting will be held,” Mr Garg stated.

A Municipal Council official said the date for the House meeting had not yet been decided. “No House meeting has been held since the President was put under suspension three months ago,” he said.
