Visually challenged
students block traffic Ambala, October 23 The blockade led to a traffic jam, which lasted about 30 minutes. The jam was cleared following the intervention of the SHO of the Ambala Sadar police station, Inspector Om Prakash. At about 11.45 a.m. the students came on the Jagadhri road. Their institute is also located on this road. The students then sat down on the road and did not allow vehicular movement on both sides of the road. A visually challenged student said they were blocking the road to press for their demands, which, he claimed, had not been met by the management despite repeated requests. He said they had met the honorary manager of the institute on August 15 and he had asked them to submit their demands in writing. The student said there was need for a watchman since at least two visually challenged students had gone missing under mysterious circumstances. “We are being served ‘bad’ food since the past four days and there is no improvement in the quality of food despite our pleas.” he said. He demanded that two cooks and two clerks should be removed from the institute. He alleged that the timings of the library were not being observed by the two clerks. However, the honorary manager, Mr Ved Prakash Aggarwal, said the students were being taken care of by the
institute. He said sensing a law and order problem, they had informed the Sadar police station.
