Rs 50 minimum wage
New Delhi, October 23
The minimum wage for unorganised labour has been fixed at Rs 50 a day with effect from September 1 this year in view of the rise in the consumer price index. In a statement issued on behalf of Labour Minister Saheb Singh today evening, it was stated that the wage had been static at Rs 45 a day since December 1, 1999, and were revised before that in August, 1998, to Rs 40. PM improving
New Delhi, October 23
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, who has been suffering from viral infection for the past two days, is believed to be showing signs of improvement. The Prime Minister’s Office said Mr Vajpayee was making “satisfactory progress”. The Prime Minister was examined by a team of doctors from the All-Indian Institute of Medical Sciences yesterday. TNS
