Intruder enters Jemima's house
Islamabad, July 25
Wife of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, Jemima Khan, and her two children escaped unhurt when a knife-wielding intruder entered her London home on Tuesday. Ms Khan believes that masked intruder might have been trying to intimidate her because of her husband’s political activities, according to her friends quoted by Dawn. She had to barricade herself in a bedroom with her children to take cover from the intruder. UNI

Terrorist suspect
Karachi, July 25
An anti-terrorist court today ordered a man suspected of planning and financing a deadly attack on a US consulate held in police custody for questioning, a court official said. Mohammed Ashraf is suspected of belonging to the Harkat-ul-Mujahedeen al-Almi, an extremist group with links to the Al-Qaida. AP

Alexander elected to Rajya Sabha
Mumbai, July 25
Former Maharashtra Governor P.C. Alexander today trounced Congress-sponsored independent candidate Suresh Keswani by a resounding margin of 130 votes in the byelection to the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra, apparently aided by cross-voting in the Congress camp. Backed by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Shiv Sena-BJP Opposition combine, Dr Alexander secured a staggering 201 votes against businessman Keshwani’s 71 in the 282-member House. UNI
