NEW DELHI, April 10 — Raids in the betting scandal in the recently concluded India-South Africa cricket series continued throughout the day, with the Delhi Police focusing on the Kochi connection, where it is alleged the entire conspiracy was hatched.

NEW DELHI, April 10 — Even as South Africa today formally sought access to the tapes allegedly containing the conversation between South African cricket captain Hansie Cronje and the Indian bookie, suggesting the fixing of matches between the two countries, India undertook a damage control exercise stating that “ the law will take its own course”.

Farooq threatens to quit
JAMMU, April 10 — The Budget session of the state Assembly ended here today with the Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah, holding out a threat that he would quit in case the Centre reopened the Kashmir issue during talks with the separatists, including the Hurriyat Conference leaders.

CBI raids Jain’s residence
CHANDIGARH,April 10 — The CBI team searched the official residence of the Chandigarh Home Secretary, Mr N.K. Jain, for eight hours here today. Though the CBI teams had conducted raids at four places, including the house of Mr NK Jain, on April 7 but no search could be conducted as the building was locked and the Home Secretary was away.
Karmapa may be treated at PGI
DHARAMSALA, April 10 — The 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorjee, is likely to leave for Chandigarh in a day or two for treatment at the PGI.
