Pak build-up along Sir Creek

NEW DELHI, April 10 (PTI) — Pakistan has reportedly moved its troops and militants in considerable strength close to border with India in the Sir Creek area off Gujarat, raising questions about the military regime’s intentions.

A battalion has been deployed in the Umarkot area and Pakistan Rangers have been replaced by regular army and Special Services Group (SSG) in Mussafirkhana in the Sir Creek area, according to official sources here.

A number of new army posts have also been set up in Mussafirkhana, they said quoting intelligence reports.

They said Pakistan had also moved between 1500 and 2000 militants to Umarkot from their training in camps at Hyderabad in Pakistan.

Another 200-odd militants have been moved from Hyderabad training camps to Nawakot area, they said.

Hyderabad is one of the many places in Pakistan where camps are being run by the ISI to train militants from all over the world.

The Pakistan army has also set up new posts at Ketibandar, Sahabandar and Gadap, the sources said.

About 800 militants have been shifted from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to Karachi after training besides a group of 200 ultras are being trained at Mithi near Ketibandar, they said.
