Kindergarten students celebrate success: On the completion of 100 days of their schooling, a special function was held for the kindergarten students at Mind Tree School, Kharar. The students presented a show which included fun-based competitions. Awards and certificates were given away to the winners. School director Dr Sanjay Kumar and principal Meenakshi Ahlawat thanked the parents for their support.

Sirsa
Two held with drugs:
The Sirsa Crime Investigation Agency arrested a person with 320 grams of opium on Monday. The accused has been identified as Mander Singh of Bukhara Khera. The police said another person was arrested with 412 kg of poppy husk packed in plastic bags. The accused, however, managed to escape.

One dies in road mishap:
Satpal from Thambad village was killed when his tractor-trolley was hit by a tipper near Saran village on Monday. On the complaint of Karan Singh, the police registered a case against the tipper’s driver. Singh said when Satpal reached near Saran village, a tipper hit the tractor-trolley, and Satpal sustained serious injuries and died. 

Annual day function: The annual day was celebrated at St. Lawrence International School, near Jagadhri, on Monday. Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker Kanwar Pal Gurjar inaugurated the function. He urged the students to participate in academics, and extra-curricular activities .

Kangra
2 nabbed with charas:
The Kangra police arrested Neeraj Kumar of Drang village in Jwalamukhi on Monday night and recovered 700 gm charas from him, the police said on Tuesday. Kangra District Police Chief Kapil Sharma said a case was registered against him. Another youth, Anil Kumar of Graoh village, was arrested with 14 gm charas.

Mandi MP awarded:
“Clean politics will bring in development in the country,” said Mandi MP Ramswaroop Sharma, after receiving the Bharat Jyoti Award in Delhi today. Former Governor Bhishma Narain Singh and OP Verma presented the award, which was constituted by India International Friendship Society. The award was given to Sharma for his clean image. 

Woman hurt in bear attack: A woman was attacked by a bear in the remote Chuhar valley here on Monday. The seriously injured woman was rushed to the Community Health Centre at Padhar from where she was referred to the local Zonal Hospital. Sources said the bear attacked Chinta Devi when she was working in a field near her house at Silahbudhani village. On seeing people coming to her aid, the bear escaped into a forest.

Tenant booked: The police have registered a case of kidnapping against a tenant at the Jogindernagar police station here. In a complaint to the police, a Ghatasani resident alleged that her daughter had been missing since November 11 and she suspected that her tenant Shamir had kidnapped her. Jogindernagar SHO Yog Raj said a case under Sections 363 and 366-A, IPC, had been registered against the tenant.

Man held with charas
: The police arrested Sachin Kumar of Ward No. 3 with 39 gm of charas at the Dhakki bus stop here Monday evening. DSP Manoj Joshi said a police party, led by ASI Ashwani Kumar, caught the accused. The DSP said Sachin had been arrested with charas a few months earlier also and bailed out by a court.

HPU MA Hindi results out
: HPU on Tuesday declared the results of the second and fourth semesters of MA Hindi, examinations of which were held in June. Controller of Examinations Shyam Kaushal said the results were available at the HPU website: www.hpuniv.in.

Corruption in UPNL: Negi : Raghunath Singh Negi, president, Jan Sangarsh Morcha, has alleged rampant corruption in UPNL. He expressed concern that the state government was yet to take steps to check corruption in UPNL. Addressing mediapersons Negi alleged that kin of defence personnel were among major sufferers due to rampant corruption in UPNL. He said UPNL should give jobs to kin of defence personnel on priority.

Bhagat is chairman of accounts committee: BJP MLA from Kaladhungi Bansidhar Bhagat has been elected chairman of the public accounts committee of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. As per Vidhan Sabha secretary Jagdish Chand, the BJP MLA has been unanimously elected for 2014-2015 at a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee held today.

Govt failed to control corruption: UKD :Uttarakhand Kranti Dal leader Manmohan Lakhera on Tuesday said the state government was yet to take steps to address grievances of disaster-hit victims. He alleged the state government had failed to control corruption in government departments. 

BJP membership campaign begins: BJP state in charge Shyam Jaju inaugurated the membership campaign on Tuesday. He appealed to the party activists to create awareness on the benefits of joining the BJP. He said the state government had failed on all fronts. 

Agitators threaten to commit suicide: Agitators of the Nanda Devi Nirdhan Viklang Kalyan Association have threatened to commit suicide in case their demands were not met. The agitators demanded government job, pension, reservation in government departments etc. They lamented that state government was yet to take steps to accede to their demands. 

Stop outsourcing staff, says UPNL: Angry contractual UPNL employees protested here on Tuesday. They said UPNL should stop outsourcing employees. SS Negi, patron, UPNL Employees Association, lamented a memorandum highlighting their demand of government job was submitted many times, but the state government did not take any steps to fulfill their demands. 

B PEd, M PEd teachers continue protest: Agitating B PEd and M PEd trained unemployed teachers protested here on Tuesday. They said that state government was yet to notify posts against vacancies in schools and colleges. The agitators have decided to continue with agitation till their demands are met. 

Yoga trainers burn marksheet photocopies: Trained yoga trainers burnt photocopies of their marksheet in support of their demands here on Tuesday. The agitators lamented that the state government had given false assurance that their demand of appointment in schools would be fulfilled.
