Brawl case: Three get 3 years in jail
Chandigarh, November 25 The court awarded punishment to them under Section 323and Section 325. All the convicts are of Dadu Majra Colony.As per the prosecution, the victim, an auto-rickshaw driver, was lying in a park of the colony in an unconscious condition and had received injury on his head. During investigation the police came to know that the three had picked up a quarrel with the victim over some petty issue. |

7-month-old’s body found in Ghaggar
Panchkula, November 25 Arvind Kumar, Station House Officer, Chandimandir, informed that some employees of a company, informed the police control room, after noticing the body floating in the water. A team of forensic experts was also called to examine the body that was fished out by the police personnel at about 3 pm, the Station House Officer claimed. “It seems that the body was thrown few days ago,” Station House Officer said. A case under Sections 317 and 318 of the IPC was registered at Chandimandir police station. Further investigations is on in this regard, said a police official. |

Chandigarh, November 25 Theft at mobile store
A theft was reported at a mobile store in Sector 9 on the intervening night of November 23 and 24.The police said complainant Ashu Gupta reported that someone had stolen Apple i-pad touch 32GB, one Apple i-pad mini, one Apple i-phone 4S 8GB, one Apple i-phone 5S 16GB, one Apple i-pad mini 16GB, one Apple i-pad mini 32 GB and Rs 15,000 from Booth No. 46. A case was registered at the Sector 3 police station and an investigation has been initiated.
Mobile phone snatched
Sarwan Kumar, a resident of Deep Complex, Hallo Majra, Chandigarh, alleged that two motorcycle-borne miscreants sped away after snatching his mobile phone near a poultary farm in Hallo Majra. A case has been registered at the Sector 31 police station.

Wushu association to hold trials today
Chandigarh, November 25 The trials will be conducted to select the senior national wushu team. The team will participate in the 23rd Senior National Wushu Championship in Patna from December 26 to 30. Players, who are residents of Chandigarh and born on December 30, 1979, to December 15, 1996, are eligible to take part in the trials. The selection trial in sanshou (sanda) section will be held for 11 weights starting from 48 kg, 52 kg, 56 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, 80 kg, 85 kg, 90 kg, and 90 kg + in mens’ category and 8 weights starting from 45 kg, 48 kg, 52 kg, 56 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg in womens’ category. In taolu section, only eight players, including men and women, will be selected. The selected players will be attending a practice camp starting from December 1. The camp will conclude on December 24. |
Ridhima propels team to victory
Chandigarh, November 25 The team drubbed Secret Heart School, Sector 26, by 28 runs. The match was played at Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sector 56 today. After winning the toss, Sacred Heart elected to field first. The LIC (Club) made a total 151-run for five in the allotted 20 overs. Ridhima was well supported by Anita, who hit 32 runs. Nandini claimed two wickets for Sacred Heart School, Sector 26. In reply to the set score, Sacred Heart School. Sector 26, scored 123 runs for 8 wickets. Ashmita remained the top scorer for the team. She scored 36 runs. Nandini scored 30 runs. For LIC Club, Sector 26, , Anu and Rajni claimed two wickets each. |
CLTA trainee Prinkle emerges victorious
Chandigarh, November 25 Prinkle drubbed fourth seed Shivani Amineni 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 to win the title. In the doubles’ category of the same event, third seed Prinkle and Kritika Chibra upset top seed Shivani and Harsha 6-4, 6-3. The duo, however, lost the final to fourth seed Megha and Shivanuja Peddada in the tie breaker 3-6, 6-3, 4-10. In the ITF Pakistan International Junior Tennis Championships 2 held at New Delhi, Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) trainee Prinkle partnering Aarja Chakraborty upset third seed Himani Mor and Sabhyata Nihalini 7-6(2), 4-6, 10-7 in the semifinal. In the final of the tennis match, the duo, however, lost to top seed Zeel Desai and Snehal Mane 3-6, 7-6(4), 1-10. |

Chandigarh, November 25 The tournament will be held for six groups-girls’ under-19 category, boys’ under-17 category, boys’ under-14 category, girls’ under-14 category, boys’ under-12 category and boys’ under-10 category. The organiser said all the schools/students participating in the event would be given certificates and medals. The winners would get trophies, added the organiser. |
