Main accused records statement
Lalru, November 2 In his statement to the police, Vishal claimed that Davinder and his aides eve-teased some girls, including his sister, during a jagran organised by youths of the trading community of the town on Friday night. Vishal claimed that Davinder Singh and his men indulged in a scuffle with him and his friends after they stopped the group from misbehaving with girls on that night. Not agreeing with the police story that Davinder and Jony were attacked by them on the Dharamgarh-Lalru road, Vishal sai d that infact Davinder, Jony and their friends had been to his grocery shop at attack him. “As they barged into my shop and attacked me, I hid behind gunny bags lying nearby. I found a poker by my side and attacked Davinder in self defence,” the accused disclosed to the police.He also claimed that Davinder Singh’s family was falsely trying to implicate his father Ashok Sharma, uncle Ved Prakash and Happy in the murder case. He claimed that the three were not present at the spot when the incident occurred.Meanwhile, the body of Davinder Singh was handed over to the family after a postmortem examination at Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi. The cremation took place this afternoon. Anil Sharma, Superintendent of Police, Dera Bassi, saidd that the police have detained Ved Prakash and Ashok Kumar on the complaint of the family of the deceased. A hunt has been launched to nab Happy, the fourth accused in the case, the SP said. 2 budding engineers get award
Dera Bassi, November 2 The budding engineers were also awarded with the Best Young Engineer Innovator Award related to sustainable development for 2014 for their project ‘Design and fabrication wind belt'. Chandigarh, November 2 Acting on a complaint of “illegal detention” filed by his counsel, the court released Sunil Singh Gill (23), a resident of Sector 8, today. Despite the court pronouncing orders to acquit the five accused on Saturday (including Sunil), the Burail jail authorities refused to release Sunil Singh Gill, and claimed he was under arrest in another case registered against him and would remain in judicial custody. However, the accused have already been given bail by the court in the other case. Calling it illegal detention, advocate Terminder Singh, Sunil’s lawyer, had shot off a legal notice to the Burail jail authorities late on Saturday evening. The Duty Magistate while summoning the documents pertaining to the other case in which Sunil was accused also summoned the Burial jail authorities. “The court held that Sunil has already been granted bail in the other case. The rights of the accused in taking legal action against the jail authorities for illegal detention were reserved,” said Terminder Singh. The case was registered on May 20, 2014, by the police of the Sector 17 police station when all the accused were arrested in the firing case. The court yesterday acquitted Sunil Singh Gill, who had allegedly fired the shots at the bouncer as per the prosecution case, Jatinder Pal Singh, alias Johny (25), a resident of Baltana, Ashwani Sharma (21), a resident of Sangrur, Dilraj Mann (22) of Patti Tarn Taran district, and Harinder Singh, a resident of Kishangarh village. They have been acquitted under Sections 307, 147 and 148 of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act. Man held on charge of raping 72-yr-old
Chandigarh, November 2 The accused asked the complainant’s mother to go out for a walk with him, following which the victim went with him. At around 9.45 when the victim failed to return, the complainant began looking for her. Police officials said that the complainant saw the accused raping his mother at a park neat Government School in Sector 56. The accused was caught and the police were informed about the incident. A case of rape and criminal intimidation has been registered against the accused at the Sector 39 police station. |

Theft at Sector 39 temple, case registered
Chandigarh, November 2 Complainant Rajesh Gupta, president, temple management, in his complaint to the police stated that the priest of the temple came to know about the theft at around 7.30 am. On examining the footage of the CCTV cameras installed at the temple, it was found that a man entered the temple at around 6.30 am and committed the theft. The police on November 1 registered a case at the Sector 39 police station. In another incident, Dinesh Chauhan, a resident of Dadu Majra Colony, reported that someone had stolen two cash boxes, jewellery and two mobile phones from his residence on the intervening night of October 29/30.
