A day ahead of the deadline for the ban on the entry of diesel-run autos in the city, the Chandigarh Administration, at a meeting chaired by UT Adviser KK Sharma, today gave a breather to diesel-run auto operators by extending the deadline by five months, till April 1, 2015.

Fancy dustbins clean govt coffers!

“Clean Panchkula Mission” will soon clean government coffers as well! Fifteen swanky dustbins have been purchased by the staff of the Panchkula Deputy Commissioner's office only for administrative officials at the Mini-Secretariat at an exorbitant cost of Rs 5,500 each. The city is gearing up to begin the mission on November 1 on the directions of the Haryana Chief Minister.

Inspector among 5 cops hurt as protesting students throw stones

Special assembly
A special assembly on “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” was conducted by students of Class VI of Tribune Model School. The assembly commenced with a prayer, followed by a small skit. It emphasised on cleanliness of thoughts first, clean washroom habits, personal hygiene and then focusing on cleanliness that begins at home, school, surroundings and to keep earth clean and green. The assembly ended with a song “clean up is fun...” and a pledge by school students, teachers and the principal.
