Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, October 26
Yogeshwar Dutt, who won a gold in Asian Games, Incheon (South Korea), after 28 years, wished that the newly formed BJP government in Haryana will continue to encourage sportspersons as the previous government.

“I wish that the new government will continue to encourage sportspersons like the previous government. Haryana is now a big hub of excellent sportspersons in the nation. And the newly formed government should carry forward the encouraging approach and promote sports in the state,” said Dutt.

Dutt was in City (Kishangarh village), presiding over as the chief guest for 3rd Open Wrestling Competition, He also promised to carry forward his performance for the upcoming 2015 World Wrestling Championship and 2016 Rio Olympics Games. “I am happy after winning the gold medal for my nation after the span of 28 years. It was a hard path and a satisfied end. Now, I am focusing to carry forward the same form to the World Wrestling Championship to be held in Las Vegas (USA) in 2015. Further 2016 Rio Olympics games are another important event to shine the name of the nation,” said Dutt, who would also attend international exposure coaching trips for the upcoming tournaments.

When asked about the pressure on wrestlers, following expectations of striking gold in every tournament, Dutt maintained that pressure always makes him responsible. “Pressure turns into twinge, if taken in extra volume. As a wrestler, I always prefer to learn and improve myself rather learning about my opponent. Even in the Asian Games, I had always put forward my best. I am happy to come over the medal draught. Hopefully, the trend would change in our favour now onwards,” said Dutt while maintaining that the Indian wrestlers should come ahead to win more medals.

“There is always a scope of betterment. We are doing well and it’s right time that we should bag more and more medals”. On encouraging young players, Dutt said, “The grass root level wrestlers should be introduced with indoor courts and provided facilities of international standards. Like in my own village, I have come up with an indoor stadium of international standards that serve small children of the area. Such facilities would expose these grass root players about the basics,” said Dutt.

This is second visit of Yogeshwar Dutt to the city beautiful.
