MP-aspirant cobbler assaulted:
The police have booked two persons for allegedly assaulting Om Parkash Jakhu, who has contested civic body, Assembly and parliamentary elections 17 times from Hoshiarpur and Shamchurasi. Jakhu, a cobbler by profession, told the police that he was involved in a court case with Sucha Ram and Mohinder Ram in connection with his shop.

Phagwara
Man booked in dowry case:
Gagandeep Singh of Mansa has been booked for allegedly assaulting his wife Jyoti Manju. He was seeking more dowry. Jyoti of Phagwara alleged she was thrown out of her in-laws' house on November 26 as she refused to fulfil their demands. No arrest has been made so far.

Man commits suicide: An unidentified man reportedly committed suicide by jumping before a running train near Chack Prema village on Sunday night. The Government Railway Police have registered a case and sent the body to a local civil hospital for a postmortem examination. The GRP said the man had been ill for some time.

The annual general body meeting of the Indian Ex-Services League, Chandigarh, will be held at the Giani Gurmukh Musafir Bhavan Auditorium, Sector 24, here, on October 26 at 11 am. All registered life members of Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula and surrounding villages are likely to attend the meet.
