Youth dies in lift crash
Panchkula, October 7
In a fatal lift crash, a worker was crushed to death while another was critically injured when the lift, used for carrying material, which was "closed" for maintenance, fell all of a sudden at a steel industry in the Industrial Area, Phase I, here this afternoon. The incident took place when a meeting of German delegates was under way at the unit that makes metal sheets.

SAD councillor passes away

SAD councillor Malkiat Singh (36), who was admitted to AIIMS, Delhi, died last night. Malkiat Singh was representing Ward No.10 consisting of Sectors 41, 42, Attawa and Butrela village. During the recent MC study tour to Port Blair, he had complained of stomach ache thereafter he was admitted to a hospital in Port Blair. Later, he was admitted to AIIMS Delhi, where he died last night. His cremation took place at Sector 25 cremation ground today. Former MP Pawan Kumar Bansal, , all MC councillors and officials were present at the cremation. — TNS
