Disabled need not wait for casting vote: Shrikant Walgad, Haryana Chief Electoral Officer(CEO), said the persons with physical disabilities need not wait in the queue for casting their vote on October 15. “Special arrangements will be made for such persons at polling stations,” he said. Arrangements would be made for them to take wheelchairs inside the polling booths.
Telecast time: The EC has allotted 720 minutes of free telecast and broadcast time to six national and two state parties on each Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR) for campaigning. The total time for telecast and broadcast will be 1440 minutes. Faridabad
Cousin rapes minor:
The police have booked a youth in connection with the rape of a 17-year-old girl. The accused, who is yet to be arrested, is the girl's cousin. It is alleged Deepak raped her and fled. While the victim told her parents, they did not lodge a police complaint as she is set to get married, it is learnt. However, the victim and her family approached the cops on Monday after Deepak came to their house and threatened to eliminate them if the girl did not start living with him. The police have registered a case under sections 376, 506 and section 4 of the POSCO Act against Deepak.

Couple ‘jump’ into canal:
Harassed by financiers, a couple is alleged to have committed suicide by jumping into the Bhakra canal at Tohana. Vijay Pal (40) and Shalu (36) left their house in the Krishna Market area, leaving a suicide note. They said the financier was demanding ~10 lakh against ~1 lakh lent to them a year back. DSP Jagdish Chander, however, said the case looked suspicious as there was no evidence of their jumping into the canal. Father held for abusing minor:
A 14-year-old girl of Paada Mohalla here has accused her father of sexual exploitation. In a complaint submitted to the police, the girl has alleged that her father used to sexually exploit her and thrashed her if she resisted his advances. This had been going for several months, she added. The police registered a case and arrested the girl's father. He was presented before a local court, which sent him to jail. SONEPAT
Three murder accused held:
The Sonepat police on Tuesday arrested three armed gangsters-- Naveen, Pankaj and Praveen of Bhainswal Kalan- who were allegedly involved in the murder of Rajiv of Shastri Nagar, Kharkhoda, on Gohana road outside the local district jail in May this year. Ajit Singh, DSP, said the police also seized three country-made pistols and seven cartridges from their possession.

Sandeep Sharma (20) of Mohri village died of Japanese encephalitis at the PGI, Chandigarh, on Tuesday. He was rushed to a private hospital at Yamunanagar on Sunday. He was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, on Monday.

Complete works before snow: M Sudha Devi, DC, Chamba, has directed officials of the Pangi tribal sub-division to complete all important works before snow. She was here on a two-day tour of the valley. The DC stated this while addressing officials of Pangi tribal sub-division at Killar on Tuesday. Woman dies of snakebite: A woman died of snakebite when she had gone to cut grass near her house here on Friday, a report said. It said the victim, identified as Reeta, was a resident of Chalaar village in the Sahoo area of the district. She was taken to a hospital, but she did not respond to treatment, the report added.

Boy drowns in Chaker Kund: A one-year-old boy drowned in Chaker Kund in Kangra town today, when he slipped into the spring, while his mother was busy nearby. According to reports, Rahul, a son of a sweeper working with the local municipal council, was a resident of Jalandhar in Punjab. The child crawled and reached the bank of the spring and slipped into it. Before he could be rescued, he had already died. SHO, Kangra, Mohinder Singh Manhas said the matter of drowning was not reported to the police till the filing of this report.KULLU
Old woman run over by bike: In a hit-and-run case, one elderly woman was allegedly run over by a speeding motorcycle at Dhalpur here on Monday. The rider of the motorcycle fled the scene and passersby moved the victim to the hospital. The deceased was identified as Ira Devi (72) of Karjan village in Manali subdivision of this district. One nabbed with charas: One Jignesh Patel of Surat district in Gujarat was nabbed by the police with 300 gm charas at the police barrier set up in Bajaura, 13 km from here, on Sunday evening. Kullu SP Surinder Verma said the accused was travelling in a private tourist bus bound for Delhi from Manali. The accused was hiding the contraband in his shoes. The SP said a case had been registered. VC presides over Kisan Mela: Prof KK Katoch, Vice-Chancellor, CSK Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University, Palampur, presided over the Kisan Mela at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Bajaura, 14 km from here, on Tuesday. The VC said researchers were doing a commendable job in promoting animal husbandry and growth of the livestock. He said efforts should be made so that the masses could benefit by the research work related to scientific management of livestock and animal husbandry. Drunk, son kills father: Hira Lal (56) of Chirpna village in the Garsa valley was allegedly murdered by his son Surinder alias Sindhu Ram (30) on Sunday night. According to the police, the accused, under the influence of liquor, engaged in a family brawl and in a fit of rage attacked his father with a sharp weapon and slit the throat of the deceased. Ramlila from Sept 24: The 10-day-long Dasehra festivities will include the staging of the traditional Ramlila at the Boys School grounds in Una, said Ramlila Organising Committee spokesman Rajiv Bhanot in a press note here on Monday. He said Ramlila would be staged from September 24 from 8.30 pm to 11 pm, adding that Dasehra would be organised at the same venue on October 3.
