Rain plays spoilsport at Kisan Mela
Ludhiana, September 12
Heavy rain played spoilsport at Kisan Mela, which kicked off on the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) campus today. A large number of farmers, who had come from across the state and neighbouring states were caught up in the rain in the afternoon.

Just two hours of rain, which started at around 12:15 pm, threw life out of gear in the industrial city. It started pouring down all of a sudden. Many residents got stranded on the water-logged roads.

City’s brush with troubled waters

From kisan to machine mela
Ludhiana, September 12
Kisan Mela has basically turned into a ‘Machine Mela’. Machines, especially costly tractors and harvesting technology dominated the mela ground during the ongoing PAU Kisan Mela.

Hi-tech tractors unveiled
Ludhiana, September 12
The PAU Kisan Mela witnessed the launch of various new models of tractors. Mahindra and Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES) today announced the launch of new Arjun Novo, technologically advanced and stylishly designed new generation tractor. The tractor will be available in two variants- 57HP- 605DI-i priced at Rs 7.30 lakh and 52HP- 605DI-PS priced at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom price in Ludhiana).

Pashu Palan Mela kicks off at GADVASU
Ludhiana, September 12
Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) inaugurated the 17th Pashu Palan Mela here today. Agriculture Minister Tota Singh inaugurated the mela and said the government was emphasising on sustainability of white revolution through propagation of indigenous breeds of buffaloes (Murrah, Nili Raavi) and cattle of Sahiwal breeds.

Illegal goods seized from train
Ludhiana, September 12
The Excise and Taxation Department today seized 168 articles without bill from a train at the Ludhiana Railway Station and collected Rs 4 lakh as fine.

Youth’s murder: 4 accused arrested 
Khanna, September 12
The Khanna district police have claimed to solve a blind murder case and arrested four persons, including a woman. The body of a youth was found in a field of Saharan Majra village near Khanna around one week ago. The reason behind the murder was illicit relations between the woman, one of the accused, with the deceased.
