The situation in flood-ravaged Jammu & Kashmir remains critical with more deaths being reported on Monday. As the toll crossed 190 in the worst flooding to hit the state in six decades, thousands of people still remain stranded in the Valley where massive rescue operations were underway.

Reply to allegations within week, apex court tells CBI chief

Modi to meet Obama on September 29
Washington, September 8 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet US President Barack Obama in Washington on September 29-30 to discuss ways to accelerate economic growth and increase security cooperation, the White House said on Monday. "The two leaders will discuss a range of issues of mutual interest in order to expand and deepen the US-India strategic partnership," the White House said in a statement. US President Barack Obama and his administration have begun preparations for welcoming Modi to the White House, officials said. — Agencies

India today kept open the possibility of a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif on the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj addresses a press meet at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan in New Delhi on Monday. "As the situation emerges, we will respond accordingly... we are not going with a preset mind," said External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, while holding Islamabad responsible for "derailing" the talk progress.
