Abohar
Woman held with drugs:
Anmol (42) was arrested with 20 gm smack at Sadulshehar in Sriganganagar on Sunday. Station House Officer (SHO) Mohar Singh Poonia said she was earlier nabbed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in 2009 and had been  out on bail.

Motorcyclist killed:Niranjan Singh of Gidderbaha died when a car reportedly hit his motorcycle near Malout bypass here  on Sunday. The police  said car owner Parampal Singh Mahuana had  been booked.

26 new community centres:
Health Minister Surjit Kumar Jyani said on Sunday that 26 new community health centres were being constructed at a cost of 149.33 crore in the state. A sum of Rs 125.52 crore had been already released for the purpose, Jyani added. Presiding over a meeting to review construction work of community health centres, Jyani directed officials to speed up the work.

Morinda
Woman found dead:
The body of Harjit Kaur (50) was found in the Bhakra canal on Saturday. Harjit's brother Sohan Singh said her sister was murdered by her in-laws for dowry. Harjit's husband Harvinder, a resident  of Saheri village, said his wife had gone to the house of  her brothers at Barsalpur village, near Chamkaur Sahib, for demanding Rs 1.5 lakh that her brothers owed to them, but she did not return. The Morinda SHO said the body was handed over to the relatives after a post-mortem examination and the investigation was on.

Nangal
Two killed in accident:Anita and her four-year-old son Vansh were killed in a road accident on Sunday. They belonged to Una in Himachal Pradesh. Anita's husband Charanjit was injured in the accident and he was admitted to the BBMB hospital. The family was reportedly returning from Nurpur Bedi on a scooter after visiting Charanjit's in-laws when a truck hit them on the Anandpur Sahib-Nangal road, near Kushth Asram.

Phagwara
PSPCL Suvidha Centres:
The Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has closed down Suvidha Centres that allowed subscribers to deposit their electricity bills in their respective areas. Sr XEN Pawan Bisla said bills could now be deposited at cash counters of Powercom, cash collection machines or through online facility.

2 injured as car overturns:Chandigarh resident Tejinderpal Singh and his wife Davinder Kaur were injured when the Swift car (CH 01 3372)  by which they were going to Tarn Taran overturned and fell into a roadside ditch on the national highway near Chiherru. The accident occurred when Tejinderpal lost control of the vehicle while trying to save a cyclist.

Krishi Mela from Sept 9:
Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) will organise a two-day Krishi Mela starting September 9. RS Antil, HAU, director (extension education) and convener of the mela, said the focus of the mela would be on acquainting farmers with cost-effective technologies that would increase production of rabi crops.

Kaithal
Voters enroled:The district administration on Friday organised a camp for enroling voters in the Kaithal Assembly constituency. Deputy Commissioner NK Solanki inaugurated the camp and said the administration was targeting at ensure more than 85 per cent polling in the constituency.

Yamunanagar
Principal awarded:
VS Thakur, principal, DAV Public School, Professor Colony, Yamunanagar, was felicitated with the CBSE Award to teachers/principals for his outstanding contribution to education. Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani presented the award to Thakur at Manekshaw Centre Parade Road, Delhi, on September 4.
