2 booked for Hawas killing
Ludhiana, September 7
A day after notorious gangster Kala Hawas was shot dead by two unidentified assailants on the Rahon road, the city police today booked alleged rival gang leader and former sarpanch Rajwinder Singh, alias Ravi Khwajeke, and his brother Sandeep Singh on charges of murder and attempt to murder.

No headway in Rs 10 lakh robbery

It has been nearly a fortnight since a hosiery trader was robbed of Rs 10 lakh near Kailash Cinema. However, the police have failed to nab the robbers despite the fact that they have the footage of a close circuit television (CCTV) camera that captured the incident.

NRI duped of Rs 10 crore
Ludhiana, September 7
The police have booked six Non-Resident Indians for duping an 80-year-old NRI of Rs 10 crore. The case has been registered on a complaint of Jaswant Singh Rattan. The accused have been identified as Jasvinder Singh Brar, Sukhdev Singh Garewal, Baljeet Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Baljeet Kaur and Randhir Singh.

Encroachments in front of shops, along stairs and other vacant spaces at Caliber Plaza AC Market in Bhadaur House, are rampant to the extent that at times, customers find it difficult to move around in the market. Most of the shopkeepers not only display their merchandise, but outward bound or inward parcels and packages are also stacked in corridors outside the shops.

Man held with liquor
Khamano September 7
The Khamano police claimed to have arrested a person and recovered 18 bottles of ‘desi’ liquor from his possession. The accused has been identified as Sukhdev Singh (40), a resident of village Mohan Majra. As per information, a police party of the Sanghol chowki under the Khamano police station was patrolling in the area.

Youth’s body found
Khanna, September 7
The Khanna district police had registered a case in the alleged murder of a youth of nearby Saharnmajra village. The deceased was identified as Dharminder Singh (24), a resident of Saharnmajra. As per information, the youth was missing from his house from last night.
