7 more diarrhoea cases reported
Jalandhar, August 20 According to Dr Satish Sood, District Epidemiologist, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), the potable water quality in these schools were not found up to the mark. "These schools were found to have very low water storage capacity and hence, the children were forced to drink water from the overhead tanks that were in pitiable condition. We have written to the school authorities to take immediate action over the issue," said Dr Sood. "Since the number of children in the government schools are much higher than the required strength, the problem of poor quality potable water is consistent due to less water storage capacity in these schools,” he said. Meanwhile, the Health Department took two more water samples from the Sunder Nagar area and Noorpur after two cases were reported from there at the Civil Hospital on Wednesday. Also, the MC and Health teams were also found camping in the diarrhoea affected areas and distributing chlorine tablets in various parts of the city even on Wednesday. 15 schools fail water quality test
