Abohar
Man donates bodies of wife, infant:
Pawan Kumar of Panjkosi village, 13 km from Abohar, today donated bodies of his wife and one-day-old girl child to an Ambala-based medical college to facilitate research by students. Seema Rani (23) and her first child Gudiya died during the process of delivery at a hospital. Pawan contacted Shah Satnam Green Social Welfare Force local chief Joginder Bajaj to donate the bodies of Seema and the girl child instead of cremating them. Many families support the campaign to donate bodies here.

President’s Medal for two: Two Jail Department officers from the state have been selected for the President’s Correctional Service Medals. Assistant Inspector General of Prisons Roop Kumar Arora, Punjab, will get President’s Correctional Service Medal for Distinguished Service, while Additional Superintendent, Central Jail, Patiala, Rajan Kapur will be given the Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service.

Newly-married woman dies:
A newly-married woman died at her home in Ambala City on Wednesday morning. Serious burn injuries were found on the body of Neetu (20), who was three months pregnant. Her father Shammi told the police her in-laws had been pressuring her to ask her parents for money as they had bought a new house. Neetu's husband and four others have been booked.

Fatehabad
Woman, child drown in pond:
A woman and her four-year-old son died of drowning in the pond at Dhani Sanchla village of Fatehabad village under mysterious circumstances. Family sources said Sunita Devi (24) and Vineet (4), had gone to a submersible tubewell near the pond to fetch water. They said Vineet slipped into the pond and on seeing him drowning, Sunita too jumped in. Villagers rushed them to the community health centre at Bhuna, where doctors declared them brought dead.

Panipat
One dead in mishap
: One person was killed and another injured when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding vehicle on Kiwana road. Ram Mehar, was a resident of Ghawalra village in Israna.

One held with charas: A resident of Subash Nagar was arrested with 30 gram charas. A FIR was registered against the accused, Naman Saluja, under Section 20 of the NDPS Act.

Rohtak
Minor raped:
A Dalit girl of Kiloi village in the district was allegedly raped at her house by an upper-caste youth of the same village. The girl alleged that the youth, Rohit, entered her house and raped her after threatening her with dire consequences. Medical examination of the girl confirmed rape, following which the police registered a case against Rohit. The youth's family members have also been named in the FIR.

Truck rams into canter: Two persons were killed and 20 injured in a head-on collision between a canter and a truck near Gandhra turn under Sampla police station area in the district on Wednesday. The canter was near the Gandhra turn when a truck coming from the opposite direction collided with it. The canter was carrying devotees from Hapur, who were returning from Gugamedi fair. Charan Singh and Monu were killed on the spot, while nearly 20 persons, including eight women, were injured. The injured have been admitted to the local PGIMS. The police has registered a case.
