The ongoing investigation into the nexus between touts and the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) employees have revealed that mobile numbers of touts written on files used to be the signal for errant employees of the RLA so that they got only those files cleared without delay.
Now, filing cheque-bounce case gets tough in city

Recovering money if a cheque bounces has become more taxing in the city with the Chandigarh District Courts returning over 300 cheque-bounce cases in the last two days. The case has to be filed at the branch of the bank from where the cheque was drawn is located. The courts have initiated implementing the recent Supreme Court judgment dated August 1 which ruled that a cheque-bounce case has to be initiated at the branch of the bank where the cheque was drawn was located.

Instances of abandoned persons found lying neglected on the roadside speak volumes of the Administration’s failure to fix the responsibility for providing care to the needy. In four such cases in the past one year, it was only after the media intervention that the authorities, including hospitals, magistrates and the police, swung into action.
