Ex-servicemen posts
: The Punjab Government has initiated the process to fill the posts reserved for ex-servicemen. The process is to be completed within six months. An official spokesperson of the Welfare Department said the government had sought a consolidated report regarding the vacant posts for ex-servicemen in various departments.

Clear pendency: Jyani: Health and Family Welfare Minister Surjit Kumar Jyani has directed all the employees of the department to clear the pendency of cases within a week. The Health Minister issued these directions while presiding over a meeting of the department officials here on Tuesday.

Hoshiarpur
4 booked in rape case
: The Mukerian police have booked four persons, including a girl, in a case of abduction and rape of a girl. The victim alleged her friend Manpreet Kaur of Kumarvan village of Bholath asked her to meet her at Ghogra. She alleged while she was on the way she was abducted by Manpreet's brother Varinder Singh and two others. She was taken to a hotel where Varinder allegedly raped her. A case has been registered.

District admn holds meet
: A meeting of officers of different departments was held at Guru Nanak Dev Stadium under the leadership of DC Rajat Aggarwal for the celebrations of Independence Day. All the officers were instructed to ensure presence of their staff. Aggarwal said rehearsal for this function will be held on August 7,8 and 11, however full dress rehearsal will be on August 13.

Kangra
3 consume poison by ‘mistake’, hospitalised
: In three incidents, two women and a man consumed poison by ‘mistake’ and were admitted to the DRPGMC at Tanda here today. The police said Bishena Devi (60) of Ludred village, Pankaj Kumar (22) of Dadoan village and Indu Bala (19) of Dard village too had consumed poison by mistake.
