The police have arrested Manjit Singh and his friend Sandeep Kumar of Khemakhera village with 1-kg opium here on Monday.

5 escape from juvenile home: Five inmates escaped from a juvenile home here on Sunday night. In his complaint to the police, the juvenile home superintendent said the five inmates climbed up a wall of the home with the help of water supply pipes and fled. The police said raids were conducted at their possible hideouts.

Purse snatched: Two bike-borne youths snatched a purse containing Rs 4,000 in cash and a mobile phone from a woman at Ghumar Mandi today.
Sunita Jain (65), a resident of Haibowal, she was entering a showroom when two youths snatched her purse. Sunita said she raised the alarm, but the snatchers fled.

Doc held for castration: The police have arrested a doctor for allegedly castrating an 18-year youth at the behest of transgender community at Moga. A case has been registered against Dr Ram Singh Dhaliwal, owner of a private hospital, Manju Mahant, a leader of the transgender community, and Jagga Singh (both residents of Bassi Pathana). The victim, Inder Bahadur, is a resident of Rajpura and the incident occurred on Friday.Youth booked :
The police have booked a youth on alleged charges of uploading derogatory remarks against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on the social media. The youth, Gurjit Singh of Moga, allegedly posted objectionable material and photos of the dera head on Facebook (FB), which triggered a strong reaction among the followers of the sect.Sangrur
Rs 4.95 lakh looted :
Unidentified persons looted Rs 4.95 lakh from a father-son duo by putting chilli powder in their eyes on the Lehra-Jakhal road. Lehragaga SHO Pushpinder Singh said Mohinder Singh and his son Dharamvir Singh were going to their native Gurne Kalan village on a motorcycle after withdrawing the amount from a bank when the incident took place.
