Faridkot
2 held for 'honour' killing:
In a suspected case of honour killing in which a 22-year-old youth was found murdered, the Kotkapura police have arrested Vinod and Dharma, while Kulwant Singh, an employee of the Punjab Police, and his daughter are still at large. The body of Gurpreet Singh was recovered from the Rajasthan canal near Phidde village two days ago.

3 nabbed with heroin:
The Garhdiwala police have arrested Rashpal Singh of Tarn Taran, Pushpa of Phillaur and Sudesh Kumari of nearby Johlan village after recovering 50 gm of heroin from them. The trio was arrestedfrom near Johlan village.

2 booked for killing friend:
The Bullowal police have registered a case against Kulvir Singh of Jhinger Khurd village and Harvinder Singh of Talwandi Jattan for allegedly murdering their friend Rajwinder Singh (21) of Kandhali Narangpur village. Rajwinder's father Amarjit Singh alleged that Kulvir and Harvinder had poisoned his son to death.

Land scam: 1 more arrested
: The Vigilance Bureau has arrested one more person, Ravdeep Singh, in the infamous Patiala land scam case. IAS officer Vikas Garg is also an accused in the case.

Paddy found missing:
A case has been registered against a rice miller, Sunil Kumar of Jai Ganesh Rice Mill, Sangrur, after 8,702 quintals of paddy (24,864 bags), worth Rs 1.5 crore, was found missing on June 15 from the mill. The case was registered on the complaint of Markfed District Manager.

Two electrocuted near Patti:
Two persons were electrocuted at Boparai village near Patti after high-tension wires touched the truck they were travelling in on Saturday. The deceased are truck owner Mehal Singh (35) and cleaner Sonu.

Dalhousie
1 held with 500 gm charas :
The local police recovered 500 gm of charas from a pedestrian at the Baloon cantonment here this morning. The accused was arrested. SP DK Chaudhary said a police party, led by Head Constable Bhajan Singh, intercepted the pedestrian, identified as Pawan Kumar, coming from the Banikhet side. The police searched his luggage and recovered the charas.

Haldwani
Post-heavy showers, red alert sounded in Kumaon:
A red alert has been sounded in Kumaon, as heavy rains in the last 24 hours damaged several motor roads and 22 roads linking Haldwani with surrounding towns and districts was also closed. Two bike riders in Ramnagar were saved while their bikes were swept with the flow of the local rivulet. The road to Nainital from Haldwani was disrupted as a huge tree fell on the road at Kaladhungi. District administration across the region ordered closure of schools in the region due to incessant rains.

Lohaghat
Docs come to aid of 80 villagers having measels: A team of doctors from Champawat were sent to the village as over 80 persons fell ill after contracting a measels like disease in Madchamar and Phaphar village of Lohaghat subdivision of Champawat district. “The village, which is situated at Nepla border is a remote village of the district, where a medical team has been sent to treat the suffering villagers.The condition of the villagers is improving gradually,” said Dr PD Pangaria, a medical officer in Champawat district.

Three get life term  for killing man:
Udham Singh Nagar’s district and sessions judge Shankar Raj, today sentenced three persons to life imprisonment for killing a man in Bazpur area in 2008. The accused would also pay a a fine of Rs 10,000 each. “Lazwanti, wife of Umesh Kumar (the victim), conspired and killed her Kumar as she had an illicit relationship with Mukesh Kumar. Bhukan Lal, Lazwanti’s father was aware of this, and the trio conspired to kill the deceased,” said Santosh Naqvi, government pleader for the case.

Rudrapur
After 3 thefts in a night, police increase vigil: The police has increased vigil in the town after three incidents of theft were reported from the town on Friday night. According to a report by three shopkeepers to the police, a sum of over Rs 1 lakh along with some jewellery and important papers were stolen from three shops by the thieves.
