Man kills himself over money
Ludhiana, July 12
A 50-year-old class IV employee of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree on the university campus this morning. The deceased has been identified as Raj Kumar. According to the police, he had lent money to someone. Raj Kumar was upset as the person did not return his money.

Cash-strapped civic body turns to ad agencies for revenue tips
Ludhiana, July 12
To get suggestions from those running advertising agencies, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Pradeep Aggarwal, called a meeting at the Zone D office here today. The members of the Advertising Committee, which was dissolved by the mayor a few days ago, said if they were asked to attend the meeting, they could have given better suggestions than others.

Parking space: 84 to get notices for bylaw violations

A file photograph The Assistant Town Planner (Zone D), Monika Anand, said today that notices were being issued to defaulters for violating the parking norms or allegedly misusing the parking space for other commercial purposes. The violators have been asked to bring their documents, if any, within seven days or action against them will be initiated by the civic body for violating the parking norms.

The district administration sent 37 beggars to the civic body’s shelter home today. Two weeks ago, Rajat Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, appealed to temple committees not to let the beggars sit outside religious places.

Reluctant to pursue studies, girl kills herself
Ludhiana, July 12
A 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at Rishi Nagar last evening. According to her parents, she killed herself as she did not want to study further.

FIRs lodged against 191 encroachers
