Poppy husk seized:
The anti-narcotics cell has seized 25 kg of poppy husk by intercepting a motorcyclist, identified as Bakshish Singh of Manniwala in Fatehpur. He has been arrested under the NDPS Act.

Worker found murdered: The body of Dharampal Meghwal (38) of Sadulshehar (Sriganganagar) was found near an overbridge in Sangria on Thursday. A Government Railway Police team, led by Sub-Inspector Gopal Ram, from Hanumangarh reached the site and shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

Report sought on mid-day meal
:
Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema on Thursday took cognisance of reports published in a section of the media about alleged sub-standard mid-day meals being served at Government Elementary School, Kot Ram Dass, Jalandhar. He asked the Circle Education Officer to submit a detailed report before July 15.

PRTC workers’ strike ends:
The two-day strike, held by the contractual employees of the Pepsu Road Transports Corporation Workers Union (Azad), on Thursday came to an end as the union members decided to hold further meetings to press the government for their demands. The strike affected the working of the PRTC and caused losses worth lakhs of rupees to the government. The union members have been demanding the regularisation of their services.
