Farmers stage dharna:
Farmers protested poor power supply outside the office of the PSPCL on Monday. Block Samiti member Gurmail Singh said they hadn’t been supplied electricity for 8 hours as promised. He said farmers needed adequate power supply to irrigate their fields.

2 held with heroin:
Two drug peddlers were held with 11 grams of heroin. Kuldip Singh alias Kaka of Hargobindnagar, Jalandhar, was held with 5 gm of heroin near Mohalla Gobindpura. Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi was arrested near Narangshahpura and 6 grams of heroin was seized.

Water shortage sparks protest:
Residents of ward number 8 in Lehragaga protested poor supply of drinking water on Monday. They blocked the road outside the office of municipal council in Lehragaga. The protesters lifted the blockade when council officials assured them of addressing the issue.

CHANDIGARH

Training concludes : The 15-day training on self-defence for girls and women of Chandigarh, organised at the Multipurpose Hall in Sector 26, concluded today. The girls were imparted training on eve-teasing, chain snatching, knife protection, front fall, body hold and neck hold. The girls/women and their parents requested the authorities to conduct more such programmes in future.

Chamba
45 kg naag chhatri seized, one held
: Nearly 45 kg naag chhatri was recovered from a passenger travelling in the Chamba-Amritsar bound bus at Baloo on the outskirts of Chamba town last night. Giving this information here on Monday, Superintendent of Police (SP), Chamba, DK Chaudhary said a police party on a patrol near Baloo intercepted the Himachal Road Transport Corporation Chamba-Amritsar bound bus for checking. On checking, the police recovered nearly 45 kg naag chhatri from a passenger who was arrested on the spot under the relevant sections of the Indian Forest Act and the Indian Penal Code, the SP said. The case was under investigation, he said.

260 litre wine recovered: The police recovered 261 litre wine of different makes last night. It was being transported in a vehicle by two persons of the Salooni area in the district. A report revealed that the police party, which was on a patrol at Behi, 25 km from here, intercepted a vehicle coming from the Sundla side. On checking the vehicle, the 261 litre wine was recovered, including 198 litre Una Number 1. The accused have been booked and cases under Section 39 of the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act have been registered at the Chamba police station. Further investigations were on, the report added.
