Abohar
4 booked for killing farmer:
Four persons have been booked for killing a farmer, Major Singh, of Dabwali Dhaab on the complaint of his wife Harjinder Kaur. The accused, Sukhjit Singh, revealed in interrogation that he and three others had pushed Major Singh in front of a train on a railway track near Pakki village on February 18. The other accused are Jagbir Singh, Manpreet Singh and Kripal Singh.

3 minor girls drown: Three minor girls, who were escorting their sheep and goats, drowned in a reservoir at a border village in Sriganganagar district on Monday. Their footwear were found near the water body. The police recovered the bodiesof Pooja (8), Gogi (10) and Chhinderpal Kaur (11) with the help of professional divers around 10 pm. The bodies were cremated today after post-mortem examination at the Civil Hospital in Gharsana.

Ferozepur
8 booked for cutting trees:
The police have booked eight persons for illegally occupying about 10 acres of forest land near Madhre village and cutting rosewood trees planted on the same. A case under Sections 379, 447, 506, 511, 353, 148 and 149 of the IPC has been registered on the complaint filed by Rashpal Singh, Range Forest Officer. Earlier, when forest officials had gone to free the land, they were allegedly attacked by the accused.

Youth dies in accident
: Amandeep Singh was killed when an “over-speeding” car hit him near Tanda. He died at a hospital in Jalandhar. The police have booked the car driver, Jatinder Gupta, of Delhi.

Woman ends life:
A 25-year-old woman committed suicide, near Pillukhera railway station, by jumping before a train today. Police registered a case of abettment to suicide against her husband and other family members.

Karnal
Body fished out from canal:
Demanding a search operation to trace the body of Ashok Kumar (35) of Pundrak village, who drowned in the Bhakra canal yesterday, residents of Pundrak and adjoining villages today blocked the Karnal-Kachwa road for half an hour. Hari Om Attri, tehsildar, and Narinder Singh, SHO, Sadar, rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters. The tehsildar ordered the deployment of divers who found the body after some time.
