In yet another change made by the state government, Pradeep Aggarwal, a 2006 batch IAS officer, has been posted as Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana. The new orders were released in Chandigarh late this evening.

Fire breaks out at Sales Tax Bar Room
Ludhiana, May 30
The charred bar room at Mini-Secretariat Around 100 chairs, sofa-sets, tables and vital documents were burnt to ashes in a fire that broke out at the Sales Tax Bar Room of the Mini-Secretariat here last night. The incident took place around 11:30 pm and three fire brigades were pressed into service. Mohit Aggarwal, an advocate, said important documents, including VAT returns and papers pertaining to excise tax were kept in the lockers by the advocates, were reduced to ashes.

Woman dies as tractor-trailer rams into house near Sutlej

A recklessly driven tractor-trailer, laden with sand, claimed the life of a 48-year-old woman and injured her 52-year-old husband early this morning.
