Abohar
Smack seized:
The police have nabbed Manjit Singh Meeta of Sadulshehar in Sriganganagar district for allegedly supplying drugs in Abohar and other parts of Punjab. He was intercepted near a fruit juice factory and 500 gm smack seized from his possession.

Girl’s body found from canal:
The body of seven-year-old daughter of a cloth merchant from Handhiaya village, Gopal Singla (34), who along with his daughter and five-year-old son had allegedly jumped into Harigarh canal (near Badbar), was found from the canal. Gurbhajan Singh, SHO, said a suicide note was found from the spot on Sunday and a search had been launched to locate Singla and his son.

4 drug peddlers held:
The police have arrested four drug peddlers in separate cases and seized 1,620 sedative pills and capsules from their possession. The accused have been identified as Amit Pahwa of Mandi Gobindgarh, Manvir Singh of Khojemajra village in Sirhind, Gurvinder Singh of Dhanghedian village and Rakesh Kumar of Gwalior.

Farmer killed in land dispute:
A 65-year-old farmer, Amrik Singh, was allegedly killed by two persons over a land dispute on Monday. Gurdaspur SSP Sukhwant Singh Gill said Amrik Singh had gone to his farm in Babbehali village where Sukhwinder Singh and Shamsher Singh of Pandher village allegedly attacked him. The victim later succumbed to his injuries. A case has been registered.

CIA staff in charge honoured:
Muktsar CIA staff in charge Sub-Inspector Parmjeet Singh has been awarded the DGP Commendation Disc for his distinguished service. SSP Muktsar Surjeet Singh and SP(H) Narinderpal Singh Sidhu awarded the disc to him on Monday.

Woman commits suicide:
Santosh Kaur (33) of Kandiala village, 30 km from here, committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance at her in-laws’ house on Sunday. Her husband Karaj Singh, his brother Nishan Singh and Nishan’s wife Gurmit Kaur have been booked. Sources said the three used to harass the victim. No arrests have been made so far.

Servant ‘framed’, Dalits protest: Members of Dalit organisations protested the arrest of domestic servant Amarjit Kaur in a theft case. The protesters gheraoed the police station. Amarjit worked at a civil judge’s house. They alleged she had been framed in the case at the behest of the judge and nothing had been recovered from her.

Infant's body found: The Bhikhiwind police on Monday recovered the body of a minor girl, Komal. It was found buried under the floor of a house in Marri Theh Wali village, around 45 km from here. Amandeep Kaur (29), stepmother of the deceased, has been booked in connection with the case.
