Abohar
Four bodies found
: The bodies of Aarti Sharma (18) and Krishan Lal Suthar (20) were found in a water reservoir in Bholusar village in Rajasthan. The police said they were reported missing on April 22 as their parents refused to marry them. In Abohar, the body of social activist Roop Chand Bhargava was fished out of Daulatpura sub-canal near Kandhwala Road. Another resident Vikram of Nai Abadi reportedly died after consuming some poisonous substance.

Women protest power cuts: Women in ward numbers 19 and 22 protested the erratic power supply and the acute shortage of drinking water on Friday. The protesters said refrigerators, desert coolers and water pumps had not been working for the past four weeks. They alleged the BJP councillors and the government departments concerned did not pay heed to their grievances.

Siblings killed in mishap:
Navpreet (15) and his sister Kirti (13) of Kot-Fatuhi village died on the spot when their motorcycle collided with a school bus near their village on Friday. Navpreet was going to drop her sister to the school. The police have impounded the bus and arrested the driver.

Man falls from train, dies: Rajiv Thakur of Amritsar died on the spot when he fell from the Amritsar-bound Chandigarh-Amritsar Doranto Express train on Thursday night. The Government Railway Police have registered a case and sent the body for a postmortem to the local civil hospital.

BSP candidate holds road show:
The BSP candidate from the Anandpur Sahib parliamentary constituency, KS Makhan, organised a road show in Mohali town and nearby villages today. The BSP leader also went to Daon village, where he vowed to work for the development of the Dalit community. Later, while talking to mediapersons, he alleged that the Congress as well as the SAD-BJP have been exploiting the Dalits.

Fire damages building in Karan Nagar:
A three-storeyed building has damaged in a fire incident in Karan Nagar locality of the city, the police said today. The fire broke out last evening in the building owned by Mohammad Shafi Shah of Nawabazar at Karan Nagar. The building was located near National School, the police said. The building was partially damaged in the incident as fire was brought under control.
