Abohar
Motorcyclist burnt alive:
Mahabir Singh (26) of Chak 16MD village was burnt alive when the motorcycle he was riding on caught fire after a vehicle hit it at Kishanpura terminal on the Hanumangarh highway in Rajasthan. The victim was a daily wager. His body was taken to the local Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. A case has been registered.

Fatehgarh Sahib
Man held with 10 kg ganja:
The police have arrested Bablu Kumar Gupta (24) of Bihar with 10 kg ganja worth Rs 5 lakh. Station House Officer of Sirhind railway station, Inderjeet Singh, said Bablu was held when the railway police frisked his bag and found hat he was carrying the consignment. He said during the interrogation, Bablu had confessed to having brought the consignment from Nepal. Bablu said he was going to Ludhiana to sell it among migrant labourers there.

Fazilka
Hearing impaired raped:
The police booked a man for allegedly abducting and raping a deaf and dumb woman in Fazilka on Sunday. Separated from her husband, the 32-year-old woman was staying with her parents, who work as labourers. Her father alleged Binder Singh alias Punni of Penchanwali village abducted the victim while she was asleep and raped her. However, the accused is still at large.

Phagwara
18 hurt as vehicle overturns:
Over 18 people, including three children, were injured when a tempo traveller overturned near Jagjitpur village on Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road on Sunday. They were going from Phillaur to Hoshiarpur to attend a wedding. The vehicle overturned when driver Kuldip Singh swerved it to avoid hitting a tractor-trolley. All the injured were admitted to the local civil hospital.

Sena chief quits:State Shiv Sena Samajwadi chief Ajay Mehta along with all the office-bearers of Kapurthala and Nawanshahr districts on Sunday quit the party. They have resigned from the primary membership of the party. Mehta and his loyal supporters alleged that party national president Kamlesh Bhardwaj had left the Hindu agenda and was pursuing vested interests.
