Complainant concocts Rs 24 lakh snatching
Ludhiana, April 17
The Rs 24 lakh snatching that took place on Ferozepur Road on April 15 has turned out to be a story concocted by the complainant. The man, who staged the loot drama, was arrested today. The police have recovered Rs 23.89 lakh cash from his possession.

Man behind Rs 47 cr fraud arrested
Ludhiana, April 17
In a major breakthrough, the city police have arrested industrialist Jagjit Singh and his three accomplices, who had formulated a fake sale deed of about 17,000 sq yd land owned by two brothers (one is an NRI and the other has died) and committed a fraud of Rs 47 crore.

With the arrest of three persons, the city police have claimed to have solved the mystery shrouding the murder of a 21-year-old youth, who was suspected to have been kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 12 lakh.

Liquor vends along national highway continue business

Liquor vends along the national highway are still operational, in contravention of the state excise policy. The state government had informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that according to the excise policy, liquor vends cannot be set up along the state and national highways from April 1.

Leaders sort it out in unparliamentary language
Ludhiana, April 17
As the polling date, April 30, is drawing closer, "hot-blooded" politicians are leaving no stone unturned to prove they are the right persons to be elected. At public gatherings, they do not hesitate from using unparliamentary language while running down their opponents. While campaigning in Amritsar, former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh referred to Bikram Majithia as "bandar" (monkey), and added "usnu puttha tang daunga".
