Varsity to start new courses:
The syndicate of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University in a meeting has decided to start nine new courses, MSc in Botany and Zoology, BTech in Civil Engineering, MA History, Political Science and Music (Vocal), Bachelors in Physiotherapy, Physical Education and Architecture and MCom.

8 booked for fraud:
As many as eight persons, including two NRI brothers, were booked on Friday for allegedly duping a Chandigarh real estate firm owner of Rs 1 crore. The complainant, Jasvir Singh Brar, alleged he had paid Rs 1 crore in advance to Rupinderpal Singh of Udekaran village in October 2011 to finalise a deal of 42 kanal and 11 marla land. But, Brar alleged, Rupinder and his brother Bhupinderpal went to the US without transferring the land to him. He also named six others in the case.

Law competition begins:
The third Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) Moot Court Competition got underway on the RGNUL campus on Friday. As many as 68 teams (272 students) from across the country are participating in the competition. The moot proposition is based on the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 and Maintenance Laws (Matrimonial Laws).
