Fazilka
Medico booked for negligence
: The Fazilka police have booked a medical practitioner for negligence following the death of a woman at Burz Hanumangarh village in the district. Complainant Mukhpal Singh alleged his wife Sukhdeep Kaur (35), who was suffering from typhoid, was administered an injection by Sohan Lal following which she died. The accused has absconded.

PSEB engineers protest in Ludhiana
: The PSEB Engineers' Association held a candle march in Ludhiana on Wednesday. Nearly 125 engineers of the Ludhiana zone participated. They are protesting against Punjab Government's decisions to raise the retirement age of Chairman-cum-Managing Director and Directors from 62 to 65 years and allowing entry of IAS officers in the management.

Mazdoor Union calls for poll boycott
: The Krantikari Pendu Mazdoor Union, Punjab, has given call to labourers to boycott the Lok Sabha elections as "the electoral system has failed them". "Whatever little labourers have achieved has been through struggles," union president Sanjiv Mintoo said during a dharna at the district administrative complex here on Thursday.

‘CM tarnishing BJP leaders’ image’
: The state BJP today accused CM Virbhadra Singh of pursuing a political vendetta and tarnishing its image. BJP spokesman Ganesh Dutt said the BJP was aware of who was doing what. He issued a veiled threat saying officers implementing the directions of the CM would face the consequences.

Youth killed in road mishap
: A youth, Parvinder Kumar of Kuthar Kalan village, was killed when the scooter he was riding was hit by an unidentified vehicle at Samoor Kalan village on the Hamirpur-Una road last night. Police sources said Parvinder was rushed to the district hospital where he was declared brought dead. A case had been registered, said DSP Surinder Sharma. — OC

State BJP unit faces irregularity on voters’ list: The BJP city unit has lodged a complaint with the District Returning Officer regarding irregularities in the voter list of Dharampur constituency. Mahesh Pandey, general secretary of the city BJP unit, said it had led to allocation of different booths to persons living in the same neighbourhood.
