Abohar
3 held for killing guard: Harnam Singh of Dhaani Roshan Lal and Milkha Singh and Richhpal Singh of MES Colony have been arrested for allegedly killing an MES guard, Shammi Kumar. The accused reportedly thrashed Shammi following a brawl while celebrating Holi on Monday. The victim later died at a hospital in Bathinda. 3 held with poppy husk:
Three Punjab residents were arrested from near inter-state check posts on the Abohar-Hanumangarh highway on Friday for allegedly purchasing narcotics without having a permit. Krishan Kumar Meghwal of Fazilka, Bhola Singh of Abohar and Gurdev Singh of Muktsar were allegedly buying poppy husk from licensed retail outlets. Only addicts with Rajasthan domicile are entitled to purchase poppy husk against permits issued by the state's Health Department.

Businessman shot dead:
Local coal depot owner Paramjeet Singh (42) was shot dead on Saturday and his body recovered from near the CIA staff office on Sunday. Station House Officer (SHO) Jaswinder Singh Tiwana said unidentified persons shot Paramjeet of Katra Saab Singh Mohalla four times around 11 pm yesterday. A case has been registered and a hunt was on to nab the accused.Phagwara
‘Tantrik’ held for murder: A ‘tantrik’ was arrested on Sunday for allegedly killing Avtar Singh of Chack Guru village at Ghataron village on Saturday. The victim, who had gone to pay the accused a visit, had an argument with the ‘tantrik’, Baba Labhaya. Thereafter, the Baba attacked Avtar with a brick, killing him on the spot. A case has been registered.
