up. Police personnel have been deputed in every nook and corner of the city.
Checking has been intensified around the venue of the Republic Day function,
Guru Nanak Stadium, where Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will unfurl the
Tricolour.

Missing youth’s body retrieved from canal
Doraha, January 25
The decomposed body of a Doraha youth, who had gone missing in November, was retrieved from the Sirhind Canal by the police today.
2 snatchings reported
Ludhiana, January 25
Two incidents of snatching had been reported here in the last 24 hours. A
snatcher targeted a woman at Sarabha Nagar last evening. In her complaint to the
police, Indu Panesar said she was shopping in the BRS Nagar market at 7.45 pm. When she came out of a shop, a biker snatched her purse and sped away. The woman said the purse was containing cash and important documents. Passersby tried to catch the snatcher but he escaped.
District celebrates Voter’s Day

District administration today celebrated National Voter's Day at Government College for Women. While addressing the students, Deputy Commissioner Rajat Aggarwal said, "To cast the vote is our duty as well as a right. By making right use of vote, the youngsters can play an important role in the country and it is the need of the hour."

ADC raids gas agency
Khanna, January 25
Gurmeet Singh, additional deputy commissioner-cum-chairman improvement trust today conducted a surprise check at Sumitra Enterprises Gas Agency (HP), Amloh Road, Khanna and seized unauthorised articles being sold by gas agency. Addressing media persons, ADC told that the checking was done to solve the grievances of LPG consumers. The working of the gas agency was not up to the mark. There will be a regular checking of all the gas agencies one by one in future, he added.
Girl’s body identified
Ludhiana, January 25
The police have identified the girl whose body was recovered from Focal Point on Friday morning. The deceased has been identified as Sonia, a native of Muzaffarnagar. She worked at an industrial unit. Her family resides at Guru Amardas Colony in Giaspura. The cause of death is still not clear.

Grant for nursery schools running under the National Child Labour Project was released after a span of about 7 months. This brought much needed relief to the school staff, which was waiting for their salaries.

Republic Day celebrations
On the eve of republic day, the students of Xplora Design Skool celebrated republic day with

Auto-rickshaws cause congestion
