Unidentified woman killed in road accident
Dera Bassi, December 8 The body of the victim has been kept for 72 hours in the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi, for its identification. The police told that any action in the case would be taken only after the identification of the body. |

2 booked for rape bid
Panchkula, December 8 The victim has been married to Gaganpreet Singh, a
Mohali-resident. She alleged that she was being harassed by her in-laws immediately after her marriage. The victim has shifted to her parents’ house in Panchkula recently, said the police. A case in this regard has been registered at Sector 5 police station. No arrest has been made so far. |

Zirakpur, December 8 The deceased has been identified as Sham Lal, son of Ram Sarup, a resident of Rajpura. The victim used to supply breads in this area. The police have registered a case against the driver of unidentified vehicle under Sections 279 and 304A of the IPC. |

Golfer Aadil Bedi notches top spot in IGU merit list
Chandigarh, December 8 He fought for the top spot for country’s junior merit list in the category of 11-13 years. His 3-day best score was 75, 75 and 76. By winning the
BPGC at Mumbai he secured 130 points and occupied the top spot in the IGU merit. Kshitij N Kaul of Delhi finished second with 117 points and Sandip Yadav of Kolkata finished third with 102 points. At BPGC, Mumbai, greens won the finals by 10 strokes 3-day scoring of 71, 71 and 74 along with 9 birdies. Chandigarh Golf Association’s president CSR Reddy congratulated him and announced a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. “Since I will be moving to B category and amateur next year, I am preparing for the upcoming challenge with my coach Jesse Grewal,” said Aadil. |
