Three arrested  in dowry case: Police on Tuesday arrested businessman Sagar Chhabra, his mother Surekha and brother Shivam on dowry charge. Sagar’s wife Shayna alleged that she was thrice forced to leave her in-laws’ house as she could not convince her parents for more dowry. The accused family owns a steel utensils showroom here, while the complainant is the daughter of a industrialist.

President’s Police Medal for BSF IG:
Dr Jagat Singh, IG, BSF, has been conferred with the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service. He was presented the award by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar. He has a vast experience of counter-insurgency operations in J&K and the North-East. He is presently posted at Headquarters, Special DG (West), Chandigarh.

Free medical camp held at Civil Secretariat: The Punjab Civil Secretariat Staff Association organised a free medical check-up camp in memory of Jaswant Singh Randhawa, former association head. Surjit Kumar Jyani, Health Minister and Chief Secretary Rakesh Singh were present. As many as 585 persons participated, said association chief Parmdeep Singh Bhabat.

Medal-winning children honoured: Arun Sekhri, Deputy Commissioner, on Tuesday honoured nine differently abled children who had won 18 gold medals during the Punjab State Special Olympics held at Ludhiana. He called upon the people to come forward to serve this section of society. He appreciated the role being played by government schools which provided them facilities to help them excel.

Narcotic powder seized from two prisoners: Police have booked two jail inmates on a complaint of Assistant Jail Superintendant Radha Krishan. He told police that 8 gm of narcotic powder was seized from Vikram Singh of RS Pura in Jammu and Somnath of local Bassi Jana.

GADVASU observes Women in Agriculture Day today: Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, will observe Women in Agriculture Day on December 4 at Ramgarh Sikri village in Talwara block of Hoshiarpur district. GADVASU Vice-chancellor Dr Vijay Kumar Taneja will be the chief guest on the occasion.

8 test positive for dengue: Eight more patients tested positive for dengue in hospitals across the city on Tuesday. Out of these, four are from Ludhiana district, one each from the city, Sudhar, Payal and Khanna. Three patients are from Kapurthala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Pathankot.
