Modi lashes out at PM, Chidambaram
New Delhi, November 30 Addressing a series of election rallies here ahead of the December four Delhi Assembly polls, Modi said he does not question the knowledge or qualifications of Singh and Chidambaram but with their "intelligence and bookish knowledge, the two leaders have destroyed the country". "They (Singh and Chidambaram) say we don't want to learn economics from Modi, but you should have at least learnt from Narsimha Rao and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Then you would have understood how to run the country. Both were not considered economists, but the two great leaders were aware of country's problems," Modi said. Stating that power is being provided at low tariff in Gujarat, Modi said, "Congress claims that power is more expensive in Gujarat than in Delhi. This is false." Referring to BJP Chief Ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan, he said, "We promise good governance and we are presenting an honourable person as our CM candidate." Attacking Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit over price rise, he said, "A Congress minister says that the government's job is not to sell vegetables. But see what Dikshit is doing now. Isn't she selling onions? I am surprised that despite the code of conduct, why did the Election Commission help her." Modi also launched an attack on Arvind Kejriwal for the first time. He accused him of back-stabbing Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement. The BJP's prime ministerial candidate cautioned the people against voting for the "newcomers".—PTI |
BJP, AAP misleading voters on power tariff: CM
New Delhi, November 30 Both the parties are daydreaming. Their missile would prove a failure, she said. The power tariff in Delhi is much lower than the tariff in all the metro cities and NCR towns. The Opposition is making false promises as the tariff cannot be changed or amended by the government as the DERC has the sole right to decide it, keeping in view the input cost and other factors. They can fulfill their promise only by effecting power cuts between 30 and 50 per cent of the supply. She asked the residents whether they are ready to face up to 50 per cent power cuts. She said the Opposition did not have the expertise to tackle the difficult situations. Only the Congress has a vision to take Delhi forward. In case any non-Congress government takes charge, Delhi is sure to usher in an era of doom. Dikshit today continued her hectic electioneering and addressed the six largely attended public meeting in Palam,Vikaspuri, Rajouri Garden, Madipur, Rajender Nagar and the Ballimaran assembly segments. Dikshit said if the Congress was voted to power, it would ensure timely expansion of the third phase of Metro besides commissioning double-decker flyovers, mono-rails, trams apart from improving the social sector. She called upon voters to avoid backing the communal and disruptive forces. |
Only BJP can ensure working classes' welfare, says Sinha
New Delhi, November 30 Addressing a rally, Sinha said, "A credible national government is the need of the hour as India is at a crucial juncture today. We must support and vote for the BJP in all the states to ensure Narendra Modi comes to power and that will send a strong message to the world, helping India regain its lost glory." The rally was organised by Ajay Kumar Malhotra, BJP candidate from the Greater Kailash constituency. He said, "Only the BJP can provide a policy aimed at the welfare of the working classes and the poor." The government has a record of shameful corruption. Thousands of farmers have committed suicide, being unable to pay the loans. Aall this government has done is to provide inflation and unemployment, he added. |
