Gang of robbers busted, 3 held
Hoshiarpur, September 27
With the arrest of three persons the district police has claimed to busted a gang of robbers operating in the district. The accused have been identified as Jaspal Masih of Mohalla Salamat, PS Bhulath, Kapurthala, Rajan and Pawan, both of Shahpur, PS Dasuya.

4 booked in murder case
Tarn Taran, September 27
Four persons, including a mother-son duo, have been booked in a 10-month-old alleged murder case of Major Singh a resident of Patti Township. The accused have been identified as Sukhwinder Kaur and her son Jagmohan Singh residents of Sarhali village Balkar Singh of Barwala village and Satnam Singh of Cheema Kalan village.

12 held with narcotics, liquor
Amritsar, September 27
The police has arrested around 12 persons and seized narcotics and liquor from their possession.

Man booked for eve-teasing
Hoshiarpur, September 27
The police has booked Rakesh Kumar of Marule for allegedly teasing and threatening a girl. The police said the accused allegedly stopped a girl studying in Shri Guru Gobind Singh College, Mahilpur, and insisted her to develop physical relations with him. He threatened to throw acid on her if she failed to do so. A case has been registered. — OC

Gang of robbers busted, 3 held

Hoshiarpur, September 27
With the arrest of three persons the district police has claimed to busted a gang of robbers operating in the district. The accused have been identified as Jaspal Masih of Mohalla Salamat, PS Bhulath, Kapurthala, Rajan and Pawan, both of Shahpur, PS Dasuya.

Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill, SSP, Hoshiarpur said the Tanda police got a tipp-off that the accused along with two accomplices identified as Roshan of Marcharu, PS Aaliwal (Batala) and Pamma of Talwandi Chaudharian (Kapurthala), were to commit a dacoity at the cremation ground, Model Town,Moonkan link road, Urmur. The police immediately raided the place and succeeded in arresting the accused. However, Roshan and Pamma managed to flee.

The police recovered two toy pistols, a sickle, a sword, an iron rod, an air gun, a motorcycle, 500 gm intoxicated powder , 2.08 lakh cash, a pair of gold-clip, earrings, a gold ring, three mobile phones and four wrist watches from them.

The accused were operating in the district for the past sometime and had committed a number of robberies. A case under Sections 399 and 402 of the IPC, Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act and Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act had been registered against them in the Tanda police station.

Raids were conducted to nab Roshan and Pamma, who were still at large, said the SSP.

One booked for embezzlement

The Mukerian police has booked Jaswant Singh resident of Abdullapur, for embezzling Rs 8.54 lakh of the Begowal Cooperative Agricultural Service Society under Section 408 of the IPC.

The police said Sukhwant Singh, Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Societies Mukerain, alleged that Jaswant Singh had embezzled the said amount.

4 booked in murder case

Tarn Taran, September 27
Four persons, including a mother-son duo, have been booked in a 10-month-old alleged murder case of Major Singh a resident of Patti Township. Gurwinder Singh, SHO, Patti told that a case under Sections 302, 120-B, 34 IPC has been registered.

Body found from canal in Dialpur

The Bhikhiwind police recovered a decomposed body of a boy from a canal in Dialpur village, 30 km from here, last evening. A report under Section 174 CrPC has been lodged by the police in this regards. ASI Ajmer Singh, Investigating Officer (IO) said the body could not be identified as it was badly decomposed. A postmortem was conducted at the Civil Hospital, Patti and the body was cremated by Municipal Council, Patti. — OC

Amritsar, September 27
The police has arrested around 12 persons and seized narcotics and liquor from their possession.

Sharanjit Singh of Sultanwind, Vijay Kumar of Ludhiana, Maninder Singh of Dashmesh Nagar, Jagtar Singh of Navi Abadi and Mannu of Faizpura, Shamsher Singh of Maqboolpura, Vikas of Chhota Haripura and Ranjinder Singh of Ghee Mandi were arrested for pos essing narcotics.

Sukha Singh of Kirtangarh Thande, Kulwant Singh of Naushehra Khurd, Madan Singh of Maqboolpura and Goldy of Nageena Avenue were arrested for possessing liquor. — TNS
