Beant killer Rajoana discharged from PGI:
Convict Balwant Singh Rajoana, on death row for assassinating then Chief Minister Beant Singh, was discharged from the PGI, Chandigarh, on Sunday. Rajoana, lodged at the Patiala Central Jail, was taken to Rajindra Hospital when he complained of chest pain.The doctors there referred him to the PGI for advanced coronary tests. Sources said he was suffering from hyper-tension.

BKU suspends stir for a week:
Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ugrahan) has suspended its agitation against the SAD-BJP government across the state for one week keeping in view of the observation of the second death anniversary of noted dramatist Gursharan Singh aka Bhai Manna Singh in Barnala on September 27. Sukhdev Singh Kokri, general secretary, said BKU activists from all parts of the state would take part in the function where cultural events, including street plays, would be organised to pay tributes to the noted dramatist.

2 arrested with illicit liquor in Tarn Taran:
The Sadar police has arrested two persons and seized 80 litres of hooch and 1,320 litres of alcohol from their possession at a naka near Aladinpur village on Sunday. Naurang Singh, Station House Officer, Sadar, said the accused had been identified as Sawinder Singh Shinder and Vikramjit Singh Vicky, both residents of Tur village. A case under the IPC and the Excise Act has been registered.

Rewari
Man dies in road mishap:
A 26-year-old man was killed and two others were injured when their car hit a tree near Bodia Kamalpur village, about 11 km from here, last night. Kuldeep, a resident of Surehli village in the district, died on the spot. The mishap took place when a neelgai suddenly came on the road and to save the animal, their car lost balance and hit the tree.

House burnt in fire:
One storey of a house was burnt in the Sundla Bazaar in the outlying Churah sub-division of the district on Saturday, reports reaching here on Sunday said. The reports said the fire broke out following a blast in the domestic wiring. The Fire Brigade of Chamba arrived at Sundla and doused the flames. Officials were on the job to assess the losses caused due to the fire and carry out relief and rescue operations.

Driver booked for hitting girl: The driver of a school bus has been booked by the police for hitting a girl at Bathri, 13 km from here, on Friday. According to an official report, the girl was rushed to a nearby hospital. The police had registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the driver and further investigations were on.

Man dies in road mishap:
A van met with an accident on the Pathankot-Mandi National Highway at Khushinagar, near here, on Friday evening in which Jogavar Singh (28) of Letri, who was driving the vehicle, died on the spot. According to eyewitnesses, the van first hit pipes kept on the roadside and then a stationery pick-up jeep. A case has been registered in this regard.

KANGRA
Man succumbs to burn injuries:
A 45-year-old man who had received 80 per cent burn injuries and was admitted to the DRPGMC, Tanda, succumbed to his injuries on Friday evening. The police said Jai Chand of Chitkal Nadun on September 15 had received burn injuries while putting kerosene on fire wood and his clothes had caught fire. The police is investigating the case under Section 174, CrPC.

Girl dies of poisoning: A 20-year- girl died in the DRPGMC, Tanda, on Friday following consumption of poison. The police said the victim identified as Pooja, daughter of Gian Chand of Kawari falling under Nagrota Bagwan police station, had consumed some poison and was rushed to the Tanda hospital where she died. The police is investigating the case under Section 174, CrPC.
