Expectant woman dies
Ambala, September 22 According to information, Tarsem Kaur, a resident of a nearby Laharsa village, had gone to the Civil Hospital for examination on September 17 as she was pregnant for eight months. Gynecologist Dr Darshna examined her and after advising her some blood tests she referred her to a physician Dr Arpita Garg. The woman was transfused two units of blood as her HB was found very low. Dr Arpita said symptoms of septicemia and anemia were diagnosed and she was given treatment accordingly. The condition of the woman became serious this morning and Dr Garg advised victim’s relatives to take her to Chandigarh. The woman expired while she was being shifted in the ambulance and her around eight-month old feticide also died. Jaswinder Singh, husband of the deceased, who is physically challenged, alleged that the doctor did not refer the patient on time which led to her death. On other hand, Dr Garg said she had asked the relatives of the victim two days before to take her to the PGI, Chandigarh, following her serious condition. But her relatives did not honour her advice. Meanwhile, Civil Surgeon, Dr Vinod Gupta said he had ordered an inquiry into the matter and an action would be taken if someone was found guilty. |

Bomb scare at Kalka rly station
Panchkula/Kalka, Sept 22 The train examiner, Basanti Lal Meena, was the first one to notice the letter. No name was mentioned on it. Soon, the RPF and the GRP reached the spot. Station house officer of a GRP station Balkar Singh said: "We did check all the coaches in the train but found nothing. Not taking chances, we asked for a dog and bomb squads." The dog squad reached the station around 10.45 pm while the bomb squad arrived at about 11.50 pm. The train was not cleared for the journey till the filing of the report. The letter states: "Iss train me remote vala bomb hai". "Parivartan lane ki tamanna ab hamare dil me hai. Dekhna hai zor kitna paison k liye apne maa, behan or betiyon ko bech dene vale netaon me hai", reads the letter. |

RIMT Group of Institutes to plant 5,000 saplings
Fatehgarh Sahib, Sept 22 Addressing the function, Jagdeep Singh Cheema highlighted the importance of planting the trees for pollution free environment. He said people are suffering from various types of diseases only due to pollution, if we did not take the appropriate steps immediately our coming generations had to suffer. He said it was need of the hour that every section of the society should take the responsibility and wages a war against the menace of increasing pollution, which can be controlled only by planting the saplings. Chairman of the institute said that students and staff will plant more than 5,000 saplings around Mandi Gobuindgarh, which is considered highest polluted town. He said they will also safe guard the trees. |

Heritage trolley to stage a comeback
Kalka, September 22 On the directions of Ashwani Lohani, Chief Mechancal Engineer (CMC), of the Northern Railway, Ambala Division, its maintenance was carried out at the Kalka diesel shed. Two trials of the trolley had been conducted successfully on August 29 and 31, respectively, between Kalka and Dharampur. The trolley, which attracts people due to its small size, is used by railway officers and staff of the railway safety department to inspect bridges, tracks, etc, specially during landslides. |

Two arrested on charge of eve-teasing
Chandigarh, September 22 Sector 22 shop burgled
Burglars stole Rs 6,968 and some important documents from a shop in the Sector 22 market on the night of September 20. The shop owner, Dalip Kumar, said burglars entered his shop after breaking the front locks and before leaving they also damaged the furniture. A case has been registered at the Sector 17 police station and investigation initiated.
Car stolen
A car was stolen from outside the Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32. Sunil Kumar of Sector 26 said he had parked his car outside the hospital. A case has been registered at the Sector 34 police station.
Purse, mobile snatched
Two motorcycle-borne persons snatched a purse and cell from Vandana near her residence on Sector 19 on Saturday night. The victim failed to note down the registration number of the motorcycle. A case has been
registered in this connection at the Sector 19 police station. |

Burglar arrested
Chandigarh, September 22 The police officials stated that Rajesh was a notorious criminal and was involved in 10 other burglary cases registered in various police stations of the city. He was produced in a court, which sent him to judicial custody.
Four sent to juvenile home
The crime branch on Saturday apprehended four juveniles who were involved in a burglary in August, regarding which a case was registered at the Sector 39 police station. After their investigation, two stolen laptops were recovered from their possession. They were produced before the juvenile court, which sent them to the juvenile home. |

Youth booked on charge of abducting minor girl
Zirakpur, September 22 The case was registered following a complaint
by Ramchander, father of the victim, who hails from Uttar Pradesh and is presently living
at Roglia Tower, Zirakpur. with family. Ramchander alleged that a youth named
Sohan Lal had abducted his daughter on September 6 this year after which Ramchander tried to search for her but
in vain. After receiving the compliant, the police booked Sohan on the complaint under Sections 363 and 366 A of the IPC. The police has started the investigation in
the case. |

Building attack from the very first minute, strikers of Bagan team held the game and started penetrating rival’s defense. In the 7th minute, left-in striker, Jerry Pulamte attained the fruit when he smartly placed the ball in nets with a toe-flick over the custodian. Making their grip sturdy, the Bagan side launched an attack in the 11th minute and double the lead through C. Lal Remruta. A class-piece of header posted by Remryta from a cross by left-winger put the team ahead by 2-0. The Manipur team, on other end, with two goals down started playing some attacking game. More of defense and non-possession made the team to fail to give their best. However, in the 22nd minute of the play, Manipur’s NG Jiten got a chance to edge past the custodian and he smartly put the score at 2-1. He reduced the margin with a brilliant shot launched through right foot. With 2-1 down the Manipur side worked hard to make a comeback. The wingers started building pressure and troubling the defenders but poor finishing mars the team’s fate. And soon, they faced the music, when Fimrong Sinson collected a miss-pass and marched towards Manipur’s defense. He posted the third goal, for Bagan, in the 52nd minute. Thereafter, the Manipur side failed to trounce back and the match was sealed at 3-1. In another match, the team of Army Boys Company, Patna, thrashed FCC, Assam, by 16 goals. The Assam team played with seven players as 11 of their players was declared overage by the panel of doctors.
